Pixar Canada Studio Closes, 100 Jobs Lost

It is official. If one were to google “Pixar Canada,” they will see these headlines:

Pixar Canada was only 3 years old (opening 2010). Since then, they have produced many short animated films. Disney was originally interested in Vancouver because of their tax incentives; but with the British Columbia incentives lacking behind what other Canadian provinces like Ontario and Quebec offered, decisions were made to close the Vancouver studio.

Most sources have quoted Barb Matheson, a Disney spokesman saying , “A decision was made to refocus operations and resources under the one roof.” All of the studio’s operations will now take place at the original mother ship home in Emeryville, California.
